..... a real charcoal oven is just the best way to seal in flavour. Our lamb comes from North Yorkshire and is exceptional - just check TripAdvisor. Why so? Well Chef sears it at 350˚C and then cooks it slowly at a secret low temperature before finishing it back over charcoal. It really is the finest way to eat lamb.
Proper Tartar sauce is an essential accompaniment to proper fish and chips. Its no good having the freshest fish, the lightest batter and the crispiest chips if it is all let down by a watery sauce that only tastes of vinegar - worst still if you have to open a packet or three. Because our mayonnaise is home-made daily from fresh free range eggs we can guarantee the whole package. We add capers, gherkins, parsley, shallots, a squeeze of lemon and seasoning. Perfect.

A wholesome breakfast menu offers something for everyone, whether you fancy a healthy start or a hearty meal. We provide a fresh continental buffet, full Yorkshire breakfast, dishes like eggs Benedict or kedgeree and a selection of smoked fish from Taylors of Pickering. All the fuel you need for the day, and then some!
Our lunch menu is packed with fresh, local ingredients perfectly prepared. We offer a ‘Yorkshire tapas’, where you can sample tasty 'small plates' like our home smoked duck, Harrogate blue cheese and walnut salad, fresh local fish or cured meat, and ‘big plates’ such as our beer battered Whitby haddock and hand-cut chips or a great steak sandwich.
Our well trained team in the kitchen only experiment when they're testing menus and not on you the customer. We stick to our consistent mantra of using the best of seasonal Yorkshire ingedients prepared simply and well. Dishes such as our charcoal-smoked moules mariniére with homemade sourdough bread or you may prefer the endive and Pickering watercress salad with walnut and a simple viniagrette, followed either with slow cooked belly pork with crackling sage and cox's pippin apple and served with the lightest of mash or gently poached turbot with asparagus, peas and farcied broad beans. To finish share an incredible homemade brulee and wonder how we got it so good. (there is a secret!)
Or you could dine in the bar and choose a straight-forward dish of whitebait and lemon mayonnaise and wash-it down with a glass of reisling at the bar.
The Sunday roast is the best meal of the week, and we know how to make it special. Whether you choose an aged rump of beef, roasted Yorkshire lamb or roast sage & onion stuffed pork belly, all are served with seasonal vegetables, dripping roasties and, of course, the very best Yorkshire puddings.
We know that little ones can be a chef's biggest critics, but we also want them to enjoy fresh, healthy and delicious food with the adults. That’s why we’ve created the perfect menu for children under 12, full of tasty dishes, such as garlic ciabatta, smoked salmon salads, rump steak and chips or 'mac' n' cheese.

For many, steaks are the 'go-to' in gastronomy, and we do them right! Our Monday steak night is the chance for you to try our drool-worthy rump steak, cooked over real charcoal to your liking and served with hand-cut chips, salad and peppercorn sauce, followed by chef’s pudding of the day for just £19.95!
